Chinatown Market crafts a bold NBA-inspired Converse collection

Chinatown Market has linked up with Converse for an NBA-inspired capsule that recreates the Jeff Hamilton designed championship leather jackets of the ’02 LA Lakers and ’98 Chicago Bulls on the Chuck 70 and Pro Leather – we’re very big fans.

’02 seen the Lakers secure its second NBA Championship three-peat feat, and for the first of the Chuck 70s, US streetwear enthusiasts Chinatown Market takes the championship jacket that Hamilton designed for the franchise and applies it across its leather upper. Striking LA skyline graphics, and in-your-face graphics to mark the Lakers’ title winning years, it’s a real head-turner.

Continuing with the Lakers theme, Chinatown Market has also applied a standout makeup to Converse’s Pro Leather. Again, it nods to the ’02 jacket with a screen-printed skyline graphic, co-branding and embroidered patches that nod to the LA Lakers’ astonishing three-peat success.

The Lakers aren’t the only franchise to obtain this achievement though, from ’91-’98 the Chicago Bulls won the NBA Championship six times, securing two three-peats in the process. In celebration in ’98, Jeff Hamilton also designed a fantastic jacket for the Bulls, and its this piece that inspired this Chuck 70 and Pro Leather.

For the Chuck 70, Chinatown Market decorates the high-top with a Chicago skyline screen-print, embroidered graphics to mark the Bulls’ title-winning years and co-branding throughout.

The same too can be said for the Pro Leather. It sports a Bulls-inspired palette, embroidered patches and co-branding throughout for a truly loud aesthetic.
