Monstrous costumes and bowls of treats can only mean one thing – Halloween is upon us. To celebrate, we’re looking back at some of the dark and twisted shoes released over the years at size?. From Freddy Krueger-themed Air Max 95s to Reebok’s Club C that crosses its path with a black cat, dig into our All Hallows Eve-inspired silhouettes.

Nike SB Dunk Low Pro ‘Night of Mischief’

Screaming with sinister details throughout, Nike SB’s menacing creation proves that 31st October doesn’t have to be just for trick or treating. Built from soft black suede, orange tumbled leather builds the toe box and midfoot Swoosh, with ornate vampire-inspired perforations to the toe box. The decoration doesn’t stop there, purple spider web embroidery weaves its way across the midfoot, while green slime-like ‘Trick’ and ‘Treat’ lettering sits on the heel counter. One last thing: a glowing green outsole is the perfect finish to showcase your kickflip.

Reebok Classic Club C ‘Kit-Cat Clock’ – ?exclusive

We wanted to transfer the DNA of the Kit-Cat Clock onto the much-loved Reebok trainer, with co-branding featuring across the trainer and two unique cat eyes replacing the ‘EE’ in the Reebok sidewall branding. This spooky pair nods to the iconic black cat – the perfect bit of seasonal iconography. Upgraded with fun co-branded hits, and designed with premium leather, rubber and furry details, these are a striking pair of shoes that came with a glow-in-the-dark clock.

Nike Air Max 95 ‘Freddy Krueger’

Nodding to Wes Craven’s 1984 classic ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’, this iteration of Sergio Lozano’s Air Max 95 lands with stripey, textured uppers, similar to that of Freddy Kruger’s infamous sweatshirt. Chrome leather makes up the tongue and heel in honour of Freddy’s glove murder weapon – both of which come complete with blood splatters for a frightening finish. Underfoot, the hair-raising model is rounded off with signature Air-tech in the heel and forefoot for top-notch cushioning when you’re marching down Elm Street.

Vans ‘Haunted Hotel’ – ?exclusive

Inspired by places where you certainly would not want to stay the night, the pack pays tribute to some of the spookiest hotels in reality and fiction. Including the Vans Authentic and Vans Old Skool, the duo comes with bold prints and plenty of design cues that pay homage to two of the most famous haunted hotels. The first is a decadent tribute to the fictional Overlook Hotel. There are plenty of nods to the spooky film setting throughout the shoe, with the well-patterned guise reminiscent of the hotel décor. You can also find a key inside the tongue and a picture from the wall decorating the footbed.

The second shoe is representative of Los Angeles’ Hotel Cecil. A place renowned for the strange goings-on that have happened there over the decades, the shoe represents the art deco influences which characterize the building. It features design cues and patterns borrowed from the reception area and almost regal aesthetics seen throughout the hotel, with textile uppers, patterned foxing tape, and tassel laces adding an extra special touch.

Nike Dunk Low Premium ‘Halloween’

Nike is renowned for its seasonal revamps, and for Halloween 2021, the basketball icon got a spooky upgrade, offering a more subtle approach in the light, but a striking glow-in-the-dark pattern is revealed at night. On this Dunk, textured leather overlays feature seasonal patterns while a backdrop of smooth white leather adds a contrast. Vibrant orange features on the Swooshes, lining and tongue too, completing the Halloween-themed palette.

Vans Sk8-Hi ‘Halloween’ -?exclusive

A collaboration between size? and Vans’ design teams, the ?exclusive Sk8-Hi is inspired by Vans’ archive prints and was refreshed for Halloween 2019. Using an archive web print found in Vans’ vault as the main point of inspiration. The white archive web print is joined by the brand’s iconic black leather jazz stripe across the sidewall, and a lime green ‘Off the Wall’ patch on the tongue. The iteration is finished off with lime green ‘Trick’ and purple ‘Treat’ messaging on the lace tips, in keeping with the Halloween theme.

Nike Air Force 1 ‘Skeleton’

Nike’s Skeleton-inspired Air Force 1 Low has had a ghoulish makeover year after year. After 2018’s white colour-up and 2019’s black iteration, the eerie model returned again in a seasonally-apt, pumpkin-like, orange guise for 2020.

Here, skeleton graphics paint over the signature midfoot Swoosh – making you look like you’ve slipped your foot into an X-ray machine. Continuing the theme, bone-styled Nike branding decorates the tongue tab, while underfoot the usual Air-injected midsole cushions your every step. Rounding things off, a translucent glow-in-the-dark rubber outsole keeps you visible deep into the night.
