In a Forest by the Sea: Flowerhead for size? and Clarks Originals
Tucked away in North London’s unassuming Highgate, you’ll find OmVed Gardens. It’s what can only be described as a haven where every inch is worth discovering, from the Architectural Digest-worthy greenhouse to the eye-catching flora found around every bend. This is what made OmVed the perfect backdrop to celebrate the coming together of Clarks Originals and Flowerhead at size?.
Founded in 2024 by Ciarán and Paula Sanchez-O’Neill, Flowerhead is a home studio rooted in mindfulness and artistic connection. Together, the couple have built a space for creativity to thrive by drawing on nature and centring their artistic practice on the organic world. Based in the New Forest – a forest by the sea – the brand introduces natural textures from the shoreline and those you can gather beneath ancient trees to their work. Flowerhead’s ceramic universe reaches from matcha bowls and ripple-effect plates to shoelace charms that add a sense of play to any pair that you just can’t replicate.
Known for craftsmanship and subcultural status, Clarks has created a movement that calls for self-expression, making for the perfect pairing with Flowerhead. Inspiration for the partnership stemmed from a 1968 archival tagline: “You’ll feel the free spirit of the gull in every step you take in Wallabees.” Not only connecting to nature, but also summoning a sense of freedom and curiosity. Aligning with Flowerhead’s worldview, both brands are allied by an appreciation for slower living, the outdoors and moments of discovery.
Our evening in OmVed Gardens began with a guided meditation on the small amphitheatre-esque grass seating, where we took in the natural soundscape and botanical aromas surrounding us. Next, we meandered along the winding path, exploring each and every corner of the gardens, making our way to our final stop.
Centred in the grounds, an inviting table setting awaited the group, complete with balls of clay, ready to be sculpted into trinket dishes. Flowerhead had placed considered offerings of shells, rocks, pinecones and other organic matter along the table for pressing into the clay – the best way to create natural texture according to the duo, and after seeing the results we can’t help but agree. The evening concluded with conversation, hearty salad, kombucha and attaching our new Flowerhead lace charms to our Wallabees.
