Ahead of the launch of our Nike Air Zoom Spiridon Cage 2 ‘Carnaby’, we’ve reached out to the area’s wider community to muse over their Carnaby Street memories. We’ve already spoken to Supreme-enthusiast Lance Walsh, and now it’s time for us to catch up with one of our own, size? Carnaby’s Dannah Mendoza.

What is your relationship with Carnaby Street?

“I work on Carnaby Street at the size? store. I joined as a Christmas temp last year but I’m still here!”

What do you love about Carnaby Street?

“I love all the colours and all the shops here – and just the sheer amount of people that come here to visit. Cos it’s not just tourists, it’s locals too – you can meet so many different types of people here on Carnaby. And I just love the whole atmosphere and the vibe really – it’s why I like working at size?. There’s loads of opportunities to meet people from all over.”

What’s your favourite memory of size?

“When I first dropped in my CV to the store, one of the managers looked at it and told me there was an interview that night. He asked if I wanted to come along – and here I am now! I’ve made friends for life at size? – I feel like I’ve got a second family here in London now.”

How would you describe your personal style?

“Comfortable. Definitely comfortable. Baggy tees, baggy jeans – you know. I do like a lot of streetwear, but it’s hard to define because anything can fit into streetwear nowadays. But yeah – cosy, comfortable, relaxed fit. That’s me.”

How would you style the Spiridon Cage 2 Carnaby?

“These cream corduroys, and probably a white summery tee… or maybe just a cute crop top, actually. I think I’d fold up the corduroys at the ends. Then lots of rings and maybe just a simple silver chain – you don’t want to take away too much from the whole fit.”

If you could time travel and visit any era of Carnaby Street, which would it be?

“I think I’d like to go back and see all the hippies – it seems such a colourful time, and they just had such a different style. It’d be so cool to experience that.”

Keep your eyes on the size? blog over the coming days for more exclusive interviews!
