Well, it’s that time of the year already, Nike’s annual Air Max Day celebrations are back with another collection of coveted footwear for 2020.
We’ve already introduced you to our Air Max Day effort, but now it’s time to showcase what Nike has in store for us all this year – and let us tell you – it’s certainly one of their best. So keep on reading and we’ll breakdown what’s dropping on March 26th.
Air Max 90 & Air Max 2090 ‘Duck Camo’ Pack
To kick off the celebrations, Nike has rummaged around their archive and plucked out the iconic ‘Duck Camo’ print from 2013’s atmos collaboration. Sticking with the Air Max 90, the Beaverton-brand has inverted the colour scheme and applied it across the top to produce arguably the best Air Max Day release this year.
A suave combination of covert suede camo, snakeskin Swooshes and bright red mesh underlays build the uppers, and it’s hard to think of a better way to celebrate both the AM 90’s 30th anniversary and Air Max Day 2020.
The Air Max 90 isn’t the only drop in the Duck Camo pack though, no, Nike has also applied the famed patterning to their all-new Air Max 2090 model. We’ll properly introduce you to the latest model in Nike’s Air lineage shortly, but all you need to know about this Duck Camo is that the print peeks through the silhouette’s translucent uppers.
Air Max 2090
The silhouette draws influence from the Air Max 90 and keeps three key components – the mudguard, the heel branding and the iconic ‘cassette’ Air bubble surround – while propelling the rest of the design into the future.
A truly space-age model, this monochromatic take on the pair looks to the future of travel and lands in a palette that Nike designers believe electric cars in the year 2090 will look like.
The colouring on the front and rear of the shoe is said to represent the head and tail-lights, while a mix of opaque black underlays and translucent lightweight overlays emphasise the model’s most, and least supportive components.
The 2090 is also dropping in a women’s exclusive ‘Lava Glow’ makeup that boasts the same mix of solid and translucent elements as the above.
Oh, it’s also worth noting the 2090 reworks the AM90’s signature waffle outsole with a slight design tweak for greater flexibility and employs an Air-bubble with a 200% larger window than the 1990 OG. Meaning the silhouette’s inner workings are even more visible than they were 30 years ago.
Air Max 90 ‘Metallic’ Pack
Nike’s affinity with metallic colour-ups continues this Air Max Day, as the Air Max 90 is set to drop in two glistening guises.
The first of the pair sports a glowing golden hue across the top for a first-class finish, while the second release opts for a shining silver shade that gives it a chrome-like aesthetic.
As usual, both pair’s midsoles come packed with Air-cushioned goodness for a comfy ride.
