Over the years, adidas has released a series of silhouettes coined after popular marathon destinations around the world. For our latest work with the sportswear giants, we wanted to take this concept a step further.
Stepping onto the beaten track, our ‘Alternative Marathons’ pack finds its inspiration from those worldwide marathons you may not be too familiar with. The collection – which reimagines three of adidas’ coveted silhouettes from the ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s – channels three marathons which have built a cult following for their awe-inspiring landscapes unique to anything else on the planet.
Last week, we kicked the collection off with a rendition of the ZX 500 inspired by Jordan’s Wadi Rum Marathon. This week, we’re taking you further east into Asia, with an iteration of the LXCON ’94 influenced by Vietnam’s Jungle Marathon. Situated in Pu Luong Nature Reserve, the race’s location is an area where time stands still. Runners who embark on the trail adventure traverse past ancient jungle, soaring limestone peaks, waterfalls, rivers and vibrant rice paddy fields where life has thrived for generations.
Using adi’s LXCON ’94 as a blank canvas, our iteration channels the jungle race with a rich forest green colourway. Smooth suede uppers are complemented by black 3-Stripes and pops of yellow feature throughout to link together each exclusive from the capsule. Inside, you’ll see a vector illustration symbolising the sights seen during the marathon. This illustration can also be found on the bespoke shoe box sent out with each order.
The size? x adidas Originals LXCON ‘94 ‘Vietnam’ is now sold out.
