With the attention heavily focused on adi’s City Series lately, we thought we’d draw your attention away from those geographically-influenced lifestyle silhouettes and introduce you to our size? exclusive iteration of one of the brand’s most celebrated runners, the Marathon TR.
One of the final silhouettes Adi Dassler worked upon, the adidas Originals Marathon TR was meticulously designed through a constant back and forth process between athletes and the brand. A group of specialist runners rigorously tested the shoes, reporting back to Dassler with any comments until they reached near perfection in 1979.
The Marathon was a trail-running pioneer when it was first released. Its aggressive rubber outsole providing runners with the traction needed to tackle the toughest of terrains, while the model’s Dellinger webbed midsole delivered a futuristic look for its era. The net-like sole unit enhanced compression within the midsole, gifting the wearer greater shock-absorption – a feature that the brand’s additional models like the New York and the Atlanta have consistently replicated.
Our iteration of the 40-year-old runner paints the silhouette in a striking yellow and red colourway. A comfy blend of breathable mesh and suede builds the models uppers, with soft nylon employed for the tongue. Underfoot, we’ve painted the runner’s protruding Trefoil print outsole in a gum shade – a first for the Marathon TR.
