Following the success of their first drop, Long Beach rapper Vince Staples and Converse return with the second instalment from their coveted collaboration. The collection sees Staples’ reimagine the iconic Thunderbolt Ox silhouette, as well as delivering a selection of street-ready apparel.

Imbued with LA flavouring, the Long Beach rapper imparts his signature creative styling onto Converse’s often over-looked Thunderbolt Ox running shoe. With the trainer industry lusting for all things deconstructed, Staples’ Thunderbolt Ox arrives on-trend with a clean white breathable mesh upper, overlaid with contrasting black stitching. The model’s usual One Star branding is updated with a 3M reflective material, delivering a modern and contemporary aesthetic to one of Converse’s classic styles.

Further details include Staples’ trademark ‘SEA’ insignia – a reference to Vince Staples’s SEA (Section Eight Arthouse) Broadcast System Beats1 Radio Show – decorating the Ortholite insole, coupled with a metallic ‘Run’ print embellishing the heel. Underfoot, the combination of past and future continues with the Thunderbolt’s standard springy cushioning foam midsole sitting atop a translucent traction rubber outsole.

A three-piece apparel collection makes up the rest of the capsule, consisting of a varsity jacket, a crewneck sweatshirt and a vibrant track pant. The luxury garments share similar features; all three sport contrasting stitching, hits of orange (a throwback to Converse and Vince’s first capsule) and metallic prints. 

The cosy fleece-lined crewneck sweat is delivered in grey, with silver ‘Run’ and ‘SEA’ branding featuring to the reverse, dissected by the orange stripe slicing through the centre of the sweat. Cut from soft loopback jersey, the accompanying track pants also boast the duo’s ‘Run’ emblem, while side entry welt pockets provide plentiful space for your daily essentials, and zipped side seams deliver added breathability.

An insulated varsity jacket signs off the collection; the bomber-inspired piece is constructed from a toasty woollen blend, highlighted with 3M piping and safety orange accents to the collar, cuffs, hem and lining.
