Nike Air Force 1 ‘Utility Pack’

Since its inception in 1982, Bruce Kilgore’s Air Force 1 has bridged the gap between performance footwear and lifestyle, and its original white-on-white makeup has provided the perfect canvas for untold reinventions down the years.

Championed by All-Stars like Rasheed Wallace, Kobe Bryant, and most famously Moses Malone (one of the original poster boys for the shoe), the sneaker later found fame on the streets as a statement piece in any outfit. Now, Nike pays homage to all the communities that have made the Air Force 1 an icon with their exclusive ‘Utility Pack’. Made available in an assortment of colourways, the pack updates the AF1 with six robust renditions.

The capsule’s low-profile iteration arrives in three colours: a black, a white and a head-turning ‘Volt’. The shoe is partly turned inside out with a visible label featuring to the sidewall (formerly decorating the lining), and premium leather uppers are adorned with a mini Swoosh and taped pull tab. Next up, the mid-profile release replaces the shoe’s traditional lacing system with a robust midfoot strap. This unique strap locks in the foot with the aid of a Fidlock magnetic buckle (also used on the Nike Komyuter), while an exaggerated pull tab and an extended tongue also enhance the comfort of the shoe.

A bright traffic red Mid version continues with the overbranded theme, and finally, we have the high-top. The sneaker features a branded ankle support to bolster the shoe’s comfort levels., while luxe leather uppers come ornamented with embroidered Swooshing to the sidewalls, as well as a subtle brand screen print around the toe box.

The Nike Air Force 1 Utility Pack will be available via size? previews and in size? stores on Thursday 1st November, priced between £80 – £120.
