Vans Style 36 ‘Pony Hair’ – size? Exclusive

For our latest size? Exclusive project together with Vans, we took to the Style 36 to create a couple of premium renditions of the classic skate shoe. The Style 36, or the Old Skool as it's more traditionally known in the present day, debuted in 1977 , and was the first Vans style to feature the bold sidestripe sweeping across the upper. Some of the original styles that arrived the decade before in the 60's such as the Authentic, Slip-on and Era were much simpler in construction and features. The Style 36 was a step-up technically, with the addition of a suede toecap to combat abrasion from griptape and padding that surrounded the collar. This modern day imagining of the Style 36 features a rubber toe bumper reminiscent of those found on earlier Vans models, and an UltraCush insole for improved comfort while skating. For our take on the Vans Style 36, we stripped away the traditional canvas and suede combo and opted for more of a lifestyle take on material choices. Split across two colourways, each is covered in a smooth suede upper, accented by tonal faux pony hair that bares the classic 'checkerboard' monogram, a staple design callout from the brands rich history. The pony elements feature on the heel panel and on the sidestripes running across both sides of the shoe. Both colourways of the size? Exclusive Vans Style 36 'Pony Hair' are available online and in all size? stores, priced at £70.
