Following on from last weeks mammoth Dublin release, we're please to announce the next addition to our ongoing Archive series with adidas Originals, in the form of the Handball Top. The original colourway of the Handball Top returned last month to much anticipation, and it was celebrated for it's attention to detail against a physical OG shoe. The 'Handball' style releases from adidas Originals have taken on many forms over the years, kicking off with the first Made in Germany Spezial in 1976. Later, more developed versions like the Handball 5-Plug began incorporating density plugs to help adjust the comfort levels of the midsole under the heel. These got even more complex further down the line with the Equipment Stabil EQT.
The original Handball Top incorporated a mix of leather as the foundation structure, and suede for protection across the toebox to protect against toe scrapes across the ground while playing the shoes namesake. The Gum sole was a standard addition, lightweight and flexible to help with performance on court. Our new colour rendition draws inspiration from classic Originals colourways found on releases throughout the 70's and 80's. This combination of blue's were also commonly used on the Handball Spezial range, a nod to the shoes heritage and acknowledging what came before it.
The adidas Originals Handball Top will be available through the size?previews App and in selected size? stores on Friday 1st December, priced at £90.
