Paris Fashion Week: An evening with ASICS
Paris has long been a city where fashion extends far beyond the runway; it’s a city where personal style is a part of everyday, and Fashion Week only amplifies that energy. During PFW, creative energy spills into galleries, cafés and sneaker boutiques alike, with subcultures naturally overlapping. Recently, size? and ASICS became part of that conversation, hosting an evening at our size? Paris store bringing together artists, creatives, sneaker enthusiasts, and the local community.
The evening opened with a panel talk led by music journalist and author Raphael Da Cruz alongside Paris-based creative duo Cosy Twins, unpacking the long-standing connection between fashion, music and the communities that continue to shape both. Framed by Paris’ unique creative identity, the conversation reflected on how style has always been informed as much by the streets and record stores as the catwalk, with the crowd adding their own perspectives throughout. It was a natural fit for ASICS, a brand whose ‘Sound Mind, Sound Body’ philosophy has increasingly found a place beyond performance sport.
Keeping the energy high long after the discussion wrapped, DALEL stepped behind the decks, providing the soundtrack for the rest of the evening. Guests were also invited to customise vinyl sleeves and slip mats through live screen printing courtesy of BittaThisBittaThat. Each design featured a bespoke ‘greatest hits’ tracklist, swapping songs for some of ASICS’ most celebrated silhouettes. From the GEL-NYC to the GEL-CUMULUS, it was a playful nod to the brand’s rich archive and a fitting keepsake from the night.
Away from the talks and music, the evening also provided a first look at what’s next from ASICS. New colourways of the GEL-KAYANO 12.1 reinforced why the silhouette has become one of the brand’s standout lifestyle models, pairing layered Y2K running aesthetics with the comfort-first construction that continues to show why it’s an easy-to-reach-for shoe.
Alongside it sat one of the evening’s most anticipated previews: the HYPERSYNC. Combining streamlined running lines with ultra-thin proportions, the new silhouette feels perfectly at home in the low-profile footwear landscape. Balancing wrestling, track and field performance cues with a cleaner, more refined execution, it’s already been spotted on the feet of tastemakers ahead of its wider release. After teaming up with avant-garde Empty Behavior and Bali-based label Isa Boulder for collaborative takes on the shoe, we’d be surprised if the HYPERSYNC isn’t one of ASICS’ defining lifestyle launches of the year.
