Tell us about yourself; where you’re from, what you do and what’s your shoe size?

“My name is Amine Bou, I go under the name of ‘Bou’ born and I’m originally from Algeria, and moved to Manchester at a young age. I produce drum & bass and I am a UK size 8!”

How did you get started in the music industry?

“First time I ever went to a drum and bass event was an illegal rave, up in the woods of Rivington with my friends, a lot of the people my friends knew were into drum and bass and when I experienced it for myself I was hooked and wanted to learn how to make it myself.

“Watching lots of YouTube tutorials on how to use FL Studio (the daw I still use now) and connecting online with other producers who were also learning to make D’n’B. Fast forward 7 years and I’m living my best life.”

How would you describe your style of music?

“Deep, dirty and sometimes soulful drum and bass!”

What has been your record of the year so far and what are you looking forward to hearing for the rest of the year?

“My favourite record I have produced was my ‘Shy Fx – Warning Remix‘ I did earlier on this year; super happy with how it turned out and the response I’ve had to it. Also loving a lot of what producers like Kanine, Serum & Hedex are making.”

Have you been making much music recently and can we expect some releases soon?

“During lockdown I’ve been making so much music. There are no distractions now so I’m always in the studio. I have a special release planned for December with Critical Music.”

Has there been a particular event/party that has stood out for your career?

“Definitely DrumSheds or some of the festivals like Boomtown & Nass – huge crowds.”

And looking further ahead, who should we be looking out for in 2021?

“Lots of solo music from myself all being released on a new label I’m working on. Can’t wait!”

On Friday you’re broadcasting an exclusive size? sessions Mix for us. What can we expect to hear?

“Lots of exclusives and new music from myself.”

Outside of the music industry, where do you look for inspiration?

“I listen to all sorts of music from rap, house and hip-hop. Anything can give me inspiration.”

What are your top 3 records of all time?

“That’s a tricky one! If I had to choose I would say:

Nas – N.Y State of Mind

Pink Floyd – Dark Side of the Moon

High Contrast – If We Ever”

What are your top 3 trainers of all time?

adidas YEEZY Boost 350

Nike Air Force 1

Nike Air Max 95
