A controversial silhouette when it was released in 1965, the Stan Smith was originally presented as the ‘Halliet’- taking its name from French tennis player Robert Halliet. Later renamed in 1972 in favour of world champion at the time, Stan Rogers Smith, this silhouette has quickly transferred from the grass courts to the concrete street.
