Nike Air Max Ecstasy Plus QS – size? exclusive

Developed as part of Nike’s Alpha Project, the Air Max 2000 made its debut at the turn of the millennium. A lesser-known member of the Air Max dynasty, it arrived as an experimental, running-focused design. Now 26 years later, it returns as the size? exclusive Nike Air Max Ecstasy Plus QS.

To go back to where it all began, we need to rewind to New Year’s Day 1999, when Nike launched its Alpha Project. Dedicated to developing innovative products with (and for) athletes, the project aimed to identify and solve product performance challenges across running, basketball, tennis, clothing, and equipment. Designed by Ken Black, the project’s now-iconic five-dot logo was described as “discreet and recognisable without competing with the Swoosh”. Each dot represented a stage in the design process: Inquire, Research, Create, Test and Compete.

Relaunched via a Supreme collaboration back in August, this size? exclusive celebrates the original 2000 design with Easter eggs nodding to the Alpha Project. A knit mesh ‘Desert Khaki’ upper is accented with gradient TPU stripes and sculpted grooves that create a sense of fluid movement. A TPU toe bumper and lace cover introduce functional detailing, while a custom Alpha Project sockliner and midsole pay tribute to its Y2K roots. Underfoot, a full-length Max Air unit delivers cloud-like cushioning, complemented by a BRS-1000 carbon rubber outsole for lasting durability.
