Merrell: the brand who know a thing or two about well-performing outdoor gear. It all started in 1981, when Clark Matis and John Schweizer set out to release a pair of all-new hiking boots. They recruited Randal Ivan Merrell in to help, and before long the label’s very first pair of hiking boots came about – changing the hiking game for good. From there, the brand built on their reputation for producing supremely comfortable, functional and well-performing adventure boots and runners, expanding into clothing whilst continuing to release all-new footwear silhouettes.

Merrell is the brand to thank for plenty of recognisable hiking and trail models out there; the Moab, the Wilderness Boot, and the MQM to name a few – plus plenty more releases we’ve seen in the last few years alone. With the catalogue of footwear only growing in line with the brand’s popularity each year, the label continues to go from strength to strength with new picks like the Hydro Moc, Moab Speed GORE-TEX and Agility Peak 4 joining the line-up.

The Hydro Moc bridges the gap between supremely comfy indoor footwear and outdoor-ready trail shoe. To be worn both around the house and in the great outdoors, it’s a true hybrid of design. The shoe is lightweight, breathable and crafted from waterproof materials – and it’s supremely durable, too.

The second is the Moab Speed GORE-TEX, an extra weather-proofed iteration of the brand’s pioneering Moab silhouette. Not only is this low-profile model simply made for traversing the trails, it’s also fitted with a GORE-TEX lining to fend off any downpours you might encounter along the way. Plus, there’s loads of colour options available too.

Designed to take on the most rugged trails, the Agility Peak 4 updates the model with a thicker midsole, plus a new outsole for even better grip than its predecessors. An integrated lacing system offers a snug fit while a breathable mesh upper and abrasion-resistant toe cap delivers protection against rocks. It’s a must have for hiking enthusiasts.
