So it’s here once again – the countdown to the 25th. We’ve already curated a selection of gifts to ease the seasonal stress, and now we’re turning our attention to some of our favourite festive releases over the years at size?. From a certain Air Max 1 made for late nights to mischievous, green-tinged palettes that nod to that infamous holiday grump to joyful reworks of courtside icons, Christmas has always brought out the playful side of our go-to silhouettes. Have a scroll and reminisce in some of these classics…

ASICS Tiger GEL-LYTE ‘Christmas Pack’ (2015)

First up, the Japanese label ASICS released a couple of wintry-themed pairs in the run up to the 25th in 2015. Joining the pack was a GEL-LYTE V ‘Jack Frost’ and the GEL-LYTE III ‘Bad Santa’, offering both an icy colourway and a red/black guise to the roster. The latter had a snowflake print on the sockliner, while the ‘Jack Frost’ utilised a cracked ice print.

Nike Dunk Low ‘Winter Solstice’ (2021)

It might not be overtly festive, but nonetheless, the Nike Dunk Low ‘Winter Solstice’ still ranks among our all-time Dunk favourites. Created in honour of the shortest day of the year, it steps well beyond its hardwood heritage, pairing vivid hues with detailed needlework inspired by the natural phenomenon itself. A final touch sits on the tongue, subtly marking the solstice date.

adidas Originals Forum Low ‘Home Alone’ (2021)

The festivities arrived when adidas Originals released a Forum Low that celebrates the beloved classic Home Alone (1990). Nods to the movie included burn marks, a rug that nods to the house of mischief, removable pins and an ‘M’ on the heel. The Forum Low’s iconic features joined the line-up too, with the foot-securing ankle strap, 3-Stripes, Trefoils and cushioned rubber soles.

Nike Air Max 1 Hyperfuse ‘Night Track’ (2013)

While the Nike AM1 isn’t strictly Christmas-inspired, its holiday-ready make up says otherwise. It originally dropped during the festive season in two colourways that drew direct inspiration from the glitz and glamour that fuelled 1970s disco. The look is rounded off with a glitter-infused sole – a nod to custom car culture and, of course, the era that kicked off a music revolution in America.

Air Jordan 1 Mid ‘Christmas’ (2021)

Ever since its release in 1985, the Air Jordan 1 has made its mark as one of the most sought-after basketball silhouettes around. In 2021, it returned getting you in the spirit for the yuletide season with colour-blocked traditional hues – red, black, green and white to be specific.

adidas Originals Country OG (2024)

Right, we know that these aren’t particularly a winter pair, but these metallics would fit in with your merry outfits to a T. This retro pair of 3-Stripes is just quite simply a must-have too, with its soft silver upper and sticky gum rubber soles.

adidas Originals x The Grinch Forum Low (2022)

Signing off this selection of silhouettes is the adidas Originals x The Grinch Forum Low. Celebrate everyone’s favourite anti-hero with this fuzzy spectacle, featuring a bright green colourway with plenty of nods hidden throughout to the mischievous character.
