Outdoor heritage is rooted in The North Face‘s DNA; the label is renowned for mixing technical fabrics with cult streetwear styles in its range of jackets and coats. And now with winter in full swing and the winter creeping up on us, it’s the perfect time to pull on your TNF coat and prepare for the colder climates.

Whether you’ve opted for the Lhotse to keep you shielded from the elements, are exploring the city zipped up in the Himalayan, or are wrapped up in a Nuptse jacket on a woodland trail, our carefully devised How to clean The North Face guide will help you keep your coat in top condition and adventure-ready.

How to clean the Nuptse and Lhoste jacket

These down-filled jackets warm the backs of hikers all over the globe. Cleaning them is super simple, and washing your jacket regularly can actually help maintain its durable water-repellent (DWR) finish. When it comes to down-fill items, special care should be taken as they are delicate. Take note.

  1. Before getting started with cleaning, turn your jacket inside out and close any fastenings plus zips.
  2. Use only a front-loading washing machine and wash on a gentle cycle and low spin with a special down liquid detergent (without bleach).
  3. We recommend repeating the rinse cycle to remove all soap residue. An additional spin cycle will help remove excess water too.
  4. Do not lift your jacket out of the washing machine – scoop it from below.

How to clean the Himalayan Insulated Jacket

Regular cleaning will help you get the most use out of your Himalayan jacket and will also improve its functionality.

  1. Before getting started with cleaning, turn your jacket inside out and close any fastenings plus zips.
  2. Machine wash at 40°C or below with similar colours – for best results use a mild detergent rather than a liquid.

Can I tumble dry my The North Face jacket?

Yes! You can tumble dry on a low setting over a long period of time. Tennis or tumble dryer balls can be added to the dryer to ensure the down does not clump together. If you don’t have a tumble dryer, using a radiator to dry it over will do the trick too.
