Celebrate Vans Checkerboard Day 2021
It’s time to pull out your favourite pair of check shoes as Vans Checkerboard Day returns on Thursday 18th November 2021 for the third year running. This special day is all about promoting and sharing creativity, breaking down any barriers that might halt this. This year follows the ethos of “Together makes it better!”, really pulling together what this special event is all about. Whether it’s communities, groups of friends or solo efforts – everyone is united on this day.
While spreading a creative message, Vans will also be directly supporting 16 charities around the world that are involved with the arts, sport and culture. Overall, $1 million will be donated, with an additional $250,000 donation to DoSomething.org, helping young people act in communities – $25,000 of this will go towards youth scholarships.
The charities involved are…
Hackney Bumps, Juju Surf Club, Indigo Youth Movement, Girls in Film, Jukebox Collective, GoodPush, Groundswell, Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii, Colectivo Tomate, Nations Skate Youth, Dignity for Children.
Doug Palladini, the Vans Global Brand President had some words to say too…
“Research shows that art and creative expression are not only proven to benefit an individual’s academic, physical and mental well-being but uplift and improve entire communities, especially when shared in public spaces…Many of our local community and public spaces have been somewhat neglected since March 2020. As a champion for the power of creativity, we’re encouraging Vans fans to join us this Vans Checkerboard Day in being a part of activities and initiatives that showcase how creativity truly revitalizes our communities.”
Get creative and wear your favourite check shoes and clothing on Thursday 18th November 2021. Whilst you are here, did you see the Vans Authentic Anaheim 44 DX ‘Needlework’?
