Take a look at our collaboration with Art of Football
To get ourselves in the mood for Euros 2020, we are celebrating both football heritage and the new generation of talent that will be performing this year. So, we have collaborated with @art_of_football to redesign our storefronts, celebrating footballers who are iconic to that city. The locations we have chosen are Manchester, Glasgow, Newcastle, Carnaby St and Cardiff. Each store features illustrated murals with a ‘made in…’ tribute to players important to the city – both past and present.
size? Manchester: Phil Foden & Marcus Rashford
For Manchester – a rich melting pot for football – we decided to opt for a design that celebrates two of the best English talents for Euro 2020. If you stroll down to our Market Street store, you’ll be able to see an illustration that celebrates the pair. While they may be from the blue and red side of Manchester, rivalries will be briefly forgotten. After two great seasons, it will be a delight to see these two gliding down the wings this summer.
size? Glasgow: Andy Robertson
This is a huge year for Scotland fans; Euro 2020 is their first major tournament for 23 years. After a long hiatus, they arrive with one of the best squads they have had for years. One of the standouts is the world-class Andy Robertson, a star from Klopp’s hugely successful Liverpool side. Also the captain of the team, Robertson will hope to bring Scotland some glory in this tournament.
size? Newcastle: Paul Gascoigne
England has had a pretty tough time in the Euros; from Gazza’s tears in ’96, failed penalty shootouts and losing to Iceland in that dreaded Round of 16 game – there have been some upsets. The optimism before each tournament makes it so special though, and – despite the upsets – there have been some incredible moments too. One man has been pivotal to that – you guessed it – Paul Gascoigne. He was responsible for one of the best Euro goals ever, and the Dentist Chair celebration that followed is arguably more iconic.
size? Carnaby St: Harry Kane
For our ‘made in London’ instalment, the iconic size? Carnaby St store is getting into the footballing spirit. You could probably guess our choice for this one; who else but England’s prolific goalscoring captain – Harry Kane. After an unstoppable season, and an incredible World Cup in 2018, everyone is expecting some great things from the skipper – he will certainly be one of Southgate’s first names on the team sheet. So, pop down to our store and have a look for yourself.
size? Cardiff: Gareth Bale
Wales’ superstar, Gareth Bale, was the obvious choice for our size? Cardiff store. Bale is the Wales captain and all-time top goalscorer, and he was a pivotal part of their Euro 2016 triumph where they reached the semi-finals. Wales will hope to do something similar this year, and Bale will be pivotal to those plans. If you get a chance, take a visit to our size? Cardiff store and check out this great illustration on our shopfront.
