Nike is celebrating the Air Huarache’s 30th anniversary with this “Scream Green” revival
It’s hard to believe that it’s been 30 years since Nike introduced us to the daring Tinker Hatfield designed Air Huarache.
Some of you may remember its initial release and be familiar with its “Have you hugged your foot today?” strapline. Others may remember the watersports-inspired runner’s 2014 revival. For some, the Air Huarache’s 30th anniversary this year may be their first introduction. And what better way is there to get acquainted with an old school Nike icon other than being greeted with a revival of its OG “Scream Green” palette?
Prepped for a new era of untold tales, the Air Huarache is ready and waiting to meet a whole new generation of footwear fans and finally makes a return with all its original details.
Tumbled white leather, a soft, synthetic toe-box, and a sock-lick neoprene bootie build the pair’s upper – which, by the way, comes detailed with OG woven tongue tabs, just like it did ’91. On the underside, Air-tech sits in the midsole for top-quality cushioning with every step.
The high-rising model pair’s panels of minty green tumbled leather with glossy, oil-slick-like, patent overlays for a striking, mixed-texture design. They’re tagged with NBA All-Star Indianapolis badges to the heel and rounded off in the usual way with a supportive, tow-tone rubber sole unit.
