On this instalment to our Converse Creators Series, we reached out to Leeds-based footwear custom expert @bvl.desgins to see what he could cook up with the Converse Chuck 70 High – to cut to the chase, they’re brilliant.

Take a look at the clip below and we’re sure you’ll agree for yourself and keep on reading to find out a bit more about the artist himself, plus the Chuck 70’s design influences…

How did you get into what you do and why do you do it?

“Funnily enough, I’m self-taught; my life in design started in March 2020 (in the first lockdown). My professional background is in business management and marketing. However, growing up, I was always interested in the state of the culture, bingeing the likes of Hypebeast, Complex and Highsnobiety – that kinda vibe,”

“Despite only really practising art and design for just shy of a year now, I can say, wholeheartedly, that it is my passion. Every day since march you’ll find me cooking something up. So much so I now have my own business – BVL designs – where I cook up designs and customisations for anything from shoes, to clothes, mirrors and even wine bottles.”

Tell us about your Chuck 70 concept?

“The idea actually came to me at the airport on my way back to the UK. I could stop thinking about the word G.O.A.T. That got me thinking about all types of goats – the animal kind not the other one,”

“The Chuck Taylor All Star is a timeless design, so I didn’t want to do too much to take away from that. In fact, I really like the idea of imagining what a Chuck Taylor All Star would look like if it was influenced by the Sacai’s ‘double everything’ designs. The laces were super random; they are coffee dyed. I love how they came out… plus they smell of coffee,”

“I wanted to say a big thanks to size? and Converse for giving me the opportunity to be involved with this project and create what I think is a really cool silhouette.”
