Nike’s Air Max 90 OG-inspired Collection
Well, it’s finally here, we’ve entered 2020 and the Air Max 90’s 30th anniversary is officially underway. So, to kick off the celebrations in style, Nike is treating us to three OG-inspired colourways of the all-new redesigned AM90.
Easily one of Tinker Hatfield’s most celebrated designs, we’ve seen countless colourways and textures applied to Air Max 90 over the years. Last month, however, Nike overhauled the whole model, taking its shape closer to the 1990 OG than ever before. The main points to take away from the redesign though are the model’s slimmer, more streamlined profile and narrower toe box.
Enough of the technical aspects, let’s take a look at those vibrant makeups.
It’s like stepping straight back into the ’90s with these “Volt”, “Hyper Purple” and “Hyper Turquoise” colour-ups.
All three releases opt for a complementary mix of white breathable mesh at the base, supple grey suede to the toe guard and sidewalls, and black leather for the mudguard and heel surround. The colourful accents all crop up on the synthetic eyelets, sidewall branding rubber heel patch and midsole for an energetic touch which breathes a new lease of life into the 30-year-old silhouette.
Downstairs, it’s business as usual with sole-supporting Air technology. There’s also a few additions that are well worth a mention too: large ‘Nike Air’ swing tags, slimline hazard-striped shoe boxes and removable foam arch supports all help to take the Air Max 90 back to its infancy.
