This year at Graduate Fashion Week, we’ll be celebrating Reebok’s all-new Slice release with an interactive pop-up event called the Hydrolab.

You may have stumbled across Hydro Dipping when trawling through the wormhole of videos on the Instagram explore page, but for those of you who are unaware of Hydro Dipping, it’s a quick and easy method to transform any 3D item’s aesthetic in a matter of hours.

Time to go into how the transformative technology works:

A hydrographic film floats on the surface of the water where it dissolves into a floating layer of paint. When you dip an object into it – in this case, a pair of Reebok Slices – the paint wraps around the shoe, dressing it in one of the three patterns available.

You’ll get to choose from an exclusive selection of prints to paint the Slice’s blank canvas, including a monochromatic ‘Cracked Paint’, a psychedelic ‘Oilslick’, plus a reptile-inspired scaly ‘Snakeskin’ motif.  And it’s not just a new paint job on offer either, the Lab’s got a whole host of laces and eyelets available for even more personalised customisation.

Here’s some more good news, the Hydro Dipping isn’t just restricted to Slice purchases. If you want to breathe a new lease of life into another pair of Reeboks, then be sure to come down and bring along any silhouette, old or new, and the experts at the lab will gladly upcycle your shoes with prints and laces of your choice.
