size? & Nike present the Airchive at Crepe City – Event Recap
To ring in Air Max Day 2017 with something a bit special this year, we teamed up with Nike and team behind Crepe City to host a bespoke space at Brick lane’s Truman Brewery to celebrate all things ‘Visible Air’. Contained within the space was our ‘Grail Wall’, and curated selection of Air Max 1’s from days gone by that have helped cement the legacy of the hallowed runner. Included within the curated selection were Ben Drury’s ‘Hold Tight’, CLOT’s ‘Kiss of Death’, the atmos ‘Safari’ and our own collaborative release with artist Dave White on the ‘Wet Paint’ pack. We also selected some of our favourite pieces from our own back catalogue to showcase our relationship with the brand over the past 17 years, both as a retailer and collaborative partner.
As well as being able to see these rare pairs in person, we also gave attendee’s the opportunity to be able to enter a raffle to be in with the chance of winning one of the grails, with all proceeds going towards selected charities.
As well as the Airchive element of the space itself, the evening played host to the launch of the latest issue of Crepe City magazine. The latest tangible element of the Crepe City brand which helps tell stories within the culture that we devote so much time to. Shedding light on forthcoming releases, the publication also retains a historical element by delving into the stash’s of respected collectors and introducing a new crowd to some of the more intriguing tales behind your favourite shoes.
To close the evening we enlisted the help of Casisdead, Elf Kid and Prez T to take the stage, with each delivering their own unimitable style over a 140bpm beat. With Cas and Prez T holding down the more established end of the spectrum, Elf Kid’s youthful energy as part of outfit The Square is seeing them rise through the ranks as a new generation of the genre emerges.
Stay tuned for a exclusive new edition of size? Sessions starring the trio in the coming weeks…
