Our latest project with Converse – The Creators Series – has been one of our highlights of 2021. This series sets out to celebrate the creative talent in our community, showcasing a variety of skills and creativity. For the final instalment of the series, Shay Casanova – dubbed “the stylist who paints” – joins the Converse Creators Series.

Looking back, our original Converse Creators Series started in 2020, during the first lockdown in March. More specifically, it had a focus on showcasing talented students and professionals in the community; this was to motivate and inspire our audience while offering a platform for creativity.

Now, to complete the series, Shay Casanova is the latest creative to platform his talent. Casanova was inspired by the Scooby-Doo characters on the Converse All Stars; during a trip to Nairobi, Kenya, he brought these characters to life, taking inspiration from people he met during his travels.

After he had shot and re-styled these models, he then painted them onto a blank Chuck 70 canvas, transporting his own vibrant experiences on top of the iconic silhouette. Finally, this journey and the content produced was later turned into a magazine by Casanova, celebrating his experience and the creativity it produced.
