Hailing from Tyrone in Northern Ireland, Loéca has been DJing since the age of 14 and credits her parents love for house music as one of her biggest inspirations.

Loéca has held down residencies at some of Ibiza’s most celebrated clubs for over 10 years now, and it’s a privilege to have her join us for our size? sessions Mix series. Carry on reading to get to know a little bit more about the woman behind the mix…

Tell us about yourself; where you’re from, what you do and what’s your shoe size?

“How’s it going? I’m Loéca (real name Chloe) and I’m an International DJ from Ireland. My shoe size is a UK 5.”

How did you get started in the music industry?

“My father was a promoter many years ago in Northern Ireland, so I grew up surrounded by dance music. Both my parents had house music playing constantly and I was always in the company of DJs. At the age of 13 I got decks for Christmas, and from the age of 14 started playing professionally in clubs.”

How would you describe your music style?

“I love so many different genres of electronic music, but mainly my sets are comprised of uplifting, vocal house mixed with a heavy deep sound. Breakbeat and disco elements are never far from my sets too!”

What has been your record of the year so far and what are you looking forward to hearing for the rest of the year?

“The Record of the Year for me is Lale – Butch; especially as Lee Burridge played it at Fabric in February which was my last gig to attend before lockdown. Little did we know then the year we all had ahead. I can’t wait to hear Bicep’s new album which I believe is being released in January – loving the tracks already released so far.”

Have you been making much music recently and can we expect some releases soon?

“I’m pretty new to the world of production, I’ve dabbled over the years but I always saw myself primarily as a DJ and enjoyed being busy with gigs over the years. Now with lockdown, I’ve started to work on production again and focus on finding my own sound and I’m looking forward to releasing new music in 2021.”

Has there been a particular event/party that has stood out for your career?

“An event that stood out for me in my career was playing at Savannah in Ibiza with Franky Rizardo – which led to me being approached by Simon Dunmore afterwards and in turn led to having the best ever summer the year after at Eden in Ibiza playing 8 Defected shows.”

And looking further ahead, who should we be looking out for in 2021?

“My girl Siggy Smalls!”

On Friday you’re broadcasting an exclusive size? sessions Mix for us. What can we expect to hear?

“You can expect to hear a lot of piano in this set with nice tracks from the likes of Alan Dixon, COEO and of course there’s some acid thrown in too.”

Outside of the music industry, where do you look for inspiration?

“I get inspired by watching dancers – as a trained dancer I get so much joy from watching people move and feel the music. I’m also massively inspired by the fashion industry which is another big passion in my life.”

What are your top 3 records of all time?

“This is an impossibly difficult question to answer and this changes from time to time but these three are always in and around:

Everybody (All Over the Word) – FPI Project

Amae – Baile (Sasha 1999 remix)

Teardrops – Womack and Womack”

What are your top 3 trainers of all time?

Nike Air Max 90s – my ultimate number 1s

Nike Air Force 1

Nike Blazer Mid ’77
