With adidas Originals’ coveted City Series revival in full swing, we’re treated once more to another sought-after silhouette from the archives, the Malmo OG.

It’s a hot topic among adidas collectors debate which of the brand’s City Series collections sit at the top of the list, but more often than not it’s the European collection that has fans trawling through thrift stores and forums to try and find that limited-edition release from the series.

Originally released throughout the 70s/early 80s, adidas Originals’ European City Series chronicled 24 cities throughout Europe, with each commemorative shoe characterised of by a unique colourway. adidas revived the collection with the Brussels OG back at the start of 2019, and now we’ve very pleased they’re welcome back another out-and-out classic that lifts its name from Sweden’s city of Malmo.

The Malmo was one of the first City Series training models adidas created during the ‘70s – and it was certainly one of the most popular. The silhouette was created to pay tribute to Sweden’s third city and proudly bears the colours from the national flag.

This particular iteration garners its inspiration from the original Made in West Germany. Featuring the same distinctive ‘Odenwald sohle’ unit used by some of the early production facilities. However, this time around the sole’s shades are distinctly different from any other modern-day re-issues. This version also features a more traditional flat lace whereas other versions had a signature round lace. But don’t you worry, there’s the round lace option included just in case you prefer it that way.

The adidas Originals Malmo OG is now sold out.
