I almost exclusively use my mom’s old Pentax camera these days; she used to take baby photos of me with it so I’ve got a special attachment to it. There’s also something about film that is undeniably beautiful. With these things in mind, my Pentax was the perfect choice for photographing Japan.

Japan is the most unique country I’ve ever visited. My travel buddy Derek Li and I instantly fell in love with the culture, the people and the food! The contrast between the city and the rural areas give the country such a unique personality. Even though we achieved so much during our short visit, I left longing for more. See you again soon, Japan!

01. Tokyo from the top of Mori Towers. Looking at this massive city makes you feel small. It’s very humbling.

02. Zojo-ji, a Buddhist temple in the Shiba neighborhood of Minato in Tokyo.

03. All cultures can enjoy the beauty and serenity of the Kinkaku-ji Zen Buddhist temple in Kyoto.

04. Transporting between temples via bicycle.

05. A zen garden in Kyoto. The monks carefully rake the gravel each day.

06. Taking a moment to appreciate the peacefulness.

07. Planning which shrines and temples to visit in Kyoto.

08. Onward to new adventures. Arigatou gozaimasu, Japan! Thank you!
