For the third instalment in our Japanese themed collaborative projects together with ASICSTIGER, we’re pleased to present our latest and final size? Exclusive release, the GELSAGA ‘Balloon Fiesta’.

The shoe itself takes it’s name from the Saga-Prefecture of Japan, located in the North of the island of Kyushu. Each year thousands of locals and international visitors alike descend on the city for the annual Balloon Fiesta, one of the largest sky sports events in Asia. Since 1980, teams invited from across the globe attend to compete in a series of tasks in which markers are dropped onto a target from a great height.

Paying homage to the traditional event, we’ve applied a themed colourway and material make-up onto the original shape of the GELSAGA. A multi-coloured ripstop reminiscent of that used on a Hot Air Balloon’s Envelope sets the theme in motion, sitting on the toebox and sidewall underlay. Deep black suede covers the upper, a material inspired by the gloves worn by pilots to avoid the scorching heat of the Burners. Finishing off the detailing, alternating coloured lettering is placed on the heel counter calling out the silhouette’s name, and a multi-Balloon print graphic sits on the inside sockliner.

The size? Exclusive ASICSTIGER GELSAGA ‘Balloon Fiesta’ will be available in limited numbers via the size previews app and in selected size? stores on Saturday 17th November, priced at £90 and in UK sizes 3-12.
