Due to FIFA’s strict stadium standards, once the competition was confirmed for Brazil, training of the National teams footballing abilities were the least of their worries; five new stadiums had to be built.
Often over-looked due to the spectacle about to unfold and the fans expectations, the stadium plays a fundamental part, providing the canvas for the artistry to take place. Any existing stadiums also needed drastically developing and reworking, to increase capacities and fulfill health and safety criteria too. To put things into perspective, the bill for the stadiums came up to $2.7 billion, in contrast, their education bill for the whole country was $19 billion; this shows just how high on Brazil’s list of priorities football really is.
