Take a closer look at our exclusive New Balance 327 duo
Since we first teased them back in April’s edition of size? previews, we’ve been dying to showcase our very own iterations of New Balance’s latest – and possibly one of this year’s greatest – runners, the 327. We’re a sucker for an archive-inspired silhouette, and we’re made up to have put our spin on what’s already one of 2020’s most sought-after releases.
If you’re unfamiliar with New Balance’s 327, you’d be forgiven for thinking we’ve rummaged through the brand’s vault and plucked it straight from there. The timeless union of suede and nylon automatically brings an element of nostalgia to a release, and NB has perfected this technique down to a T with the 327. So to keep in tune with the vintage aesthetic, we’ve painted our duo in a couple of our favourite ‘archive’ colourways befitting of the era.
It’s easy to see why you’d mistake it for a vintage runner though; the silhouette pulls design features from three of the brand’s classic ’70s styles. From the 1976 New Balance 320, we get the oversized ‘N’ sidewall branding; from ’77 we get the studded outsole of the trail-ready 355 runner and the super-light and versatile uppers of the SuperComp.
Done up in two palatable combinations of purple/grey/orange and yellow/green/orange, what gives our two colour-ups that added extra is the addition of suede for the ‘N’ branding. The majority of this year’s 327s have sported printed branding across the side, ours, however, lands in a supple suede for a nice, textured finish. Oh, and to hammer home our partnership, we’ve proudly stamped the silhouettes’ footbeds with the size? logo.
