To celebrate the global launch of New Balance’s latest model, the 574S, we were invited to their Italian flagship retail space in Milan to see the shoes for the first time.
The 574S (Sport) is a contemporary take on their iconic silhouette that originally debuted as part of the brand’s ‘500 series’ of off road-running shoes in the late 1980’s. This new version has been designed to bridge the gap between performance and lifestyle with modern Fresh Foam cushioning, a non-traditional tongue and a comfortable bootie construction.
Reflective underlays and a premium suede and mesh upper enrich this top tier release, and as a subtle nod to the 574’s heritage the two launch colourways have black and red detailing, inspired by the box they came in during the 1990’s.
Whilst the guests sampled the canapés and drinks they were able to view the new silhouette through a bespoke art installation in the store. In true Milan style the evening came to an end with a special catwalk show from designer/label owner Zeynep Guntas, where models highlighted the 574S and wore deconstructed New Balance clothing.
The New Balance 574S in black/red is available online and in selected stores now priced at £110. The white/red colourway will be available shortly.
