We are sure that you aren’t a complete stranger to Amnesia Ibiza – the name practically immediately springs to mind when you mention the Spanish party island. One of the world’s leading super clubs, this spot can host over 4,000 people and it is located on the main road between Ibiza Town and San Antonio.

One of the richest experiences you can get in the party scene, the famous Terrace is covered by a glass ceiling that lets an array of light rush in as dawn breaks – something that deserves a place on your bucket list. Additionally, there’s the darker, more immersive Main Room, a Rooftop, a VIP area and the outdoor section – offering a diverse clubbing experience.

Where did all this start though? Let’s go back to the cultural revolution of the ‘70s when the island was favoured by liberals and philosophers. One of these was Antonio Escohotada, a man who travelled to Ibiza for a new life and rented the club, originally calling it El taller del olvido (The Workshop of Oblivion). With escapism being at the heart of his ethos, this concept was more focussed on with a name change of ‘Amnesia’ – and the rest is history.

In the ‘80s, overseas in Chicago, there was another music revolution happening called house music. This soon spread around the globe, becoming especially popular on the shores of Ibiza, especially when Amnesia brought DJ Alfredo to the club in 1983 – one of the most renowned names in the Balearic beat. By the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, genres like trance, acid house and techno were in full swing, especially after the rave scene and Second Summer of Love in the UK. This encouraged party tourism, especially to the shores of Ibiza, with partygoers exchanging damp fields and cagoules for the golden beaches of Ibiza.

Ever since, Amnesia Ibiza has remained at the top of the game, offering up an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience for partiers – although you’ll be wanting to add visits to the latter. On this side of the century, it has received accolades such as the Best Global Club in 2007, 2009, and 2011 at the International Dance Music Awards. The club has also welcomed the likes of Sven Väth, Chase & Status, Luciano, Carl Cox, Paul Van Dyk, Skrillex and Diplo, while a slew of celebrities has entered its doors over the years. It’s dance music heritage, and we are buzzing to collaborate with them and adidas Originals this year.
