A Love Letter to Jordan – Panel Talk
In celebration of Michael Jordan’s 60th birthday, we sat down with four enthusiasts for a discussion around all things Jordan as a player, and Jordan the brand.
Our first guest is Cherise Hewitt, aka Dripeisha, who started collecting at sixteen years old. A UK-based visual artist and creative director, her collection boasts some of the classics including Jordan 1s, Jordan 4s and Jordan 11s.
Second up is Kofi Kwei-Armah; his Jordan collection started out in 2017, and alongside working at our size? Carnaby Street store, he is a podcaster, photographer and creative.
Joelah Noble is a presenter and sneaker fan. She has experienced Jordan both during her childhood in the US and later here in the UK, so has an appreciation of the player and the brand from both sides of the Atlantic.
Bringing an in-depth knowledge of all things Jordan is Mark Thomas, Jumpman Journals founder and Jordan enthusiast. He has curated a platform for lovers of Jordan sneakers and culture to come together, and his collection dates back to the ‘90s.
Our panellists discussed everything from their earliest Jordan memories to stand out moments in gameplay and footwear, as well as the influence of the GOAT both on and off the court, and his legacy for the generations to come.
When it comes to Michael Jordan, there’s one thing everyone agrees on – his influence is still very much present across basketball and footwear. His gameplay is legendary, his business acumen has set the bar for no end of sportspeople who have followed suit with their own footwear ventures, and his iconic style remains unparalleled to this day.
