To mark the 40th anniversary of the death of Ian Curtis, as well as the start of Mental Health Awareness Week here in the UK – which both coincidentally fall on Monday 18th May – music and mental wellbeing festival, Headstock will be taking over United We Stream to host a special evening of music and conversation to remember the life and legacy of the Joy Division frontman.

As part of the two-hour, live ‘Moving Through the Silence’ event, renowned DJ/Author Dave Haslam will be chatting with New Order’s Bernard Sumner and Stephen Morris to share their memories of their late Joy Division bandmate.

The Killers’ frontman Brandon Flowers will also be taking part in the evening, discussing how both Joy Division and New Order influenced the band, plus their contribution to the Ian Curtis biopic ‘Control’.

The star-studded cast continues with performances from the likes of Elbow, The Lottery Winners and Kodaline, plus further tributes from Manchester-based singer-songwriters LoneLady and Jennifer Hardy as well as poet Oliver Lomax.

As a final tribute, there’s also set to be a very special performance of Joy Division’s ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’ ft. IORA, Untold Orchestra and The Northern Session Choir, led by Dan McDwyer.

We’re truly honoured to be supporting such a fantastic event which aims to encourage more positive conversation and action on tackling poor mental health, as well as raising vital funds for mental health services across Greater Manchester.
