Graduate Fashion Week – Day 2 Recap
Kicking off the day, we attended the University of Northampton’s showcase and were pleasantly surprised to find Lucy Moulton’s techwear inspired designs complemented with the adidas Originals Tubular, proving that the silhouette still holds weight even with the Three Stripes releasing new model after new model.
Melissa Francis’ exhibition continued the trend of bulky footwear design, with all models wearing exaggerated versions of 90s sneakers like the FILA Disruptor and the adidas Originals Falcon.
The FILA Bubbles Zipped made a surprise appearance during Bath Spa University student Alice Honeychurch’s show, re-utlising the classic basketball shape with a post-modern aesthetic.
Angela Lopez-Monzon had some tactical vest designs which reminded us of our friends at Hoodlab, whose high quality cotton variation features the same high tech, practical designs seen on the runway.
Later on in the day, we took some time to sit down with size? Multi-Channel graduate Becky Thompson, who discussed her experiences whilst being on the team and the opportunities that her two-year programme can give her.
We also got up close with Amy Bray and Emily Hayward from the Plymouth College of Art who paired their collections with size? products. Stay tuned for a full interview with the girls tomorrow where they discuss their collection and what they have to offer over the next few years.
George Clark’s collection showed a clear Off-White resemblance, with many of the same industrial looking accessories. Models were seen rocking Denim Jackets and Converse All Stars with laces swapped out for zip ties. Virgil would be proud.
Shows continued throughout the day with Birmingham City University, the Manchester School of Art and more taking to the catwalk.
