After it’s surprise introduction to world back in 2014 on Nike’s first annual Air Max Day, the Zero has seen increased interest and momentum surrounding it ever since. From being involved in Nike’s Be True campaign that honours and stands for the LGBT community, to finding it’s way onto the esteemed Nike iD program where users can unleash their creativity on their favourite shoe to create something truely individual.

In this latest colour-up, the Air Max Zero acknowledges another innovative runner that came before it. A collaborative design effort between Nike heavyweights Tinker Hatfield (Air Max 87, Jordan III) and Bruce Kilgore (Air Force 1, Jordan II) the Air Max 180 was the latest addition to the heralded visible air timeline. The duo enhanced the airbag used previously on the Air Max 90 by an extra 50%, giving you more room for cushioning underfoot. The vibrant hits on the heel were very reminiscent of the womens Air Max 90 Concorde from the same year, and highlighted the signature enlarged air unit.

The newest application on the Zero takes placement and colour cues from the Air 180, positioning the blue and pink towards the rear of the shoe in the same way as the 1990 release.

The Air Max Zero ‘Ultramarine’ launches online and in selected size? stores on Thursday 6th October, priced at £115.
