Meet the Salomon XT-WHISPER

One of Salomon’s more esteemed lineages, the XT series has revived another member of the pack. Originally launched in 2009, the XT-WHISPER was designed with women in mind and an answer to the male-dominated trail space of the times providing a female counterpart to the XT-HAWK.
Back for 2025, the XT-WHISPER started as it meant to go on launching a sell-out collaboration with New York City-based designer, Sandy Liang. The pinked-out colourway hit the spot and was immediately picked up as the next best trail crossover silhouette – and it’s not hard to see why.
Designed with a soft aesthetic, rather than the hard lines we’re used to seeing from the brand, the XT-WHISPER utilises layered callouts and rich textures. Once a female-focused silhouette, this updated version has been reimagined for a contemporary genderless audience.
For maximum breathability, the upper consists of 3D open mesh and durable synthetic overlays, plus a tight mesh to keep out any loose debris. The original concept set out to reflect commitment to self-expression, which in our opinion, is executed well with the unique wavy SensiFit application and premium finishes. More streamlined than its other family members, the Whisper has other familiarities like the Quicklace system and Contragrip outsole – a must for any XT.
