It all started in 1939 with ‘Marvel Comics #1’, and now in 2024, over 50,000 characters later (including one-offs), we’re helping to celebrate MARVEL’s 85th anniversary with a little help from adidas Originals. That’s right, we’re inviting footwear and MARVEL fanatics alike to immerse themselves in the Multiverse with our latest size? exclusive.

This marks our second collaboration with MARVEL and adidas, following our 2023 ‘Stark Industries Pack’, only this time around we’re honouring the Master of Mystic Arts, aka Doctor Strange. This pack features three adidas Originals classics; the New York, Gazelle Indoor and Handball Spezial, which are all inspired by Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum – the residence and headquarters of the superhero – in each of their locations; New York, London and Hong Kong.

Starting with the New York, it seemed only right to draw inspiration from the New York City Sanctum Sanctorum – Dr Strange’s base. Referencing the outer facade, the yellow-orange tones lend themselves to the iconic brick building, while the luxe leather green 3-Stripes nod to the roof. The heel tab is stamped with the New York Sanctum’s Seal of Vishanti – the protective magical ward.

Next is the Gazelle Indoor, the low-profile silhouette lends itself to the London Sanctum, arriving in a soft green suede with stoney-white detailing – just like the building itself. Not forgetting the shoe’s heritage, a semi-transparent rubber sole unit anchors the design, while a special Seal of Vishanti is minted on the heel. 

And finally, the Handball Spezial, the terrace star has been designed to embody the vibrant colours of Hong Kong by night, arriving in a deep blue suede with pink highlights on the famed 3-Stripes and a soft blue on the heel tab. Sticking to the dark theme, the rubber sole unit appears in black, while a gold Seal of Vishanti stamps the heel and adidas x MARVEL co-branding mark the crinkle tongue.

Every aspect of this pack has been considered, from the adidas x MARVEL co-branding stamp on each tongue to the unique Seal of Vishanti mark on the heel. Take a look inside and you’ll find custom footbeds for each design, referencing the mindbending Mirror Dimension.
