The Nike Air Max 1 is a piece of sneaker heritage and one of Tinker Hatfield’s finest works for the Beaverton label. This future-proof silhouette first landed in ’87, standing as the first to represent an exposed Air unit in the sole and to gain cult notoriety. Throughout 2023 the brand has re-released the most sought-after colourways and now we see the ‘Keep Rippin’ Stop Slippin’’ from Nike’s 2008 ‘Greatest Hits’ pack return to our shelves in a new 2.0 make-up.

This latest ‘Keep Rippin’ Stop Slippin’’ rendition opts for a toned-down palette compared to its predecessor. Hairy suede replaces the original Safari print panels with creamy leather overlaying breezy ‘Vast Grey’ mesh, on the upper that was once a vibrant orange. Swooshes take their usual spot on the laterals and toe box while further down the midsole contains Air cushioning providing plenty of plush comfort confirming the legendary look. The heel counters get dressed in red ‘KEEP RIP’N STOP SLIP’N’ text and to finish, custom graphics from the original pack feature on the translucent Waffle outsole offering durable traction in every step.
