As we’re sure you’re already well aware, Air Max Day 2023 is on the fast approach; a day when all things related to Nike’s Air Max innovation are celebrated, and silhouettes which have come to define the brand – and you could even say, sneaker culture as a whole – are put into the spotlight. As part of this year’s festivities, and our latest size?collections, we nipped over the North Sea to catch up with Vincent Van Straalen – an avid Air Max 1 enthusiast with a penchant for patterned picks.

Based in Amsterdam, Vincent has been adding to his collection for years. The prevalent shoe in his collection is the inaugural Air Max silhouette; the Air Max 1. His collection includes the likes of 2008’s ‘Keep Rippin Stop Slippin’ release, which is famously based on the Air Safari 87, plus a slew of other Safari and animal themed AM1 releases from over the years. The Air Max 1 ‘Elephant Pack’ ’06, Air Max 1 ‘Safari Atmos’, and the one that started it all for Vincent – the multi-animal printed Air Max Atmos Animal Pack – can all be found in his selection.
