When it comes to Nike heritage, the Cortez is one of the first names to spring to mind. There’s something utterly timeless about the OG Cortez; originally designed by the Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman, the shoe shared the same function as multiple other icons – running. In particularly distance and road running, the shoe gained exponential popularity after it was used by American athletes at the Munich 1972 Olympics.

Now, you probably know what this shoe looks like, but it’s the winning formula of clean uppers, bold Swooshes and grippy soles that just make it work. So, for our ?exclusive, we’ve decided to opt for just that.

First up, we are introducing our grey-toned revamp. Differing from the OG smooth leather, we’ve decided to use soft perforated suede, while our own orange tones feature on the footbed for a ?exclusive touch. Text from the original Cortez adverts sits on the reverse of the tongue label for when admiring by hand, while the box it comes in is coated in a vintage print. This is all finished with an off white tongues, laces and midsoles.

For this release, we also dived into graffiti culture by catching up with TJ Dolan (krekfms), an artist who uses vintage cars as his main inspiration, especially the ones that he sells at Dolan Classics. For our ?exclusive Cortez release, TJ created a unique piece of artwork for us, offering elements of our brand, the shoe and of course, his unique approach to graffiti artwork.
