Although one of the newer releases from New Balance, the 1906R has certainly made an impact already within the sneaker game. Following on from a highly successful collab with thisisneverthat, the shoe is back again with two brand new colourways which are sure to enhance the popularity of this relative newcomer.

Akio Hasegawa has lent his talents to this release, which features both a lighter and darker iteration of the shoe. First up, the New Balance 1906R ‘Castlerock’, is the darker of the two. Uppers of buttery nubuck and breezy mesh are coated in dark grey and navy hues, with the earthy tones joined by silver accents for a little something extra. N-ergy and ABZORB technology is utilised for a cushioned, comfy tread, while rubber adds sticky grip via the outsole. Completing the line-up, ‘N’ branded sidewalls join ‘1906’ branding for the final flourish.

Next up is the more crisp option out of the two. Techy as always, intricate mesh fills the upper with jagged synthetic strips and signature branding throughout. Thick laces loop down the top, and elevated rubber soles keep your stride nicely cushioned, enhanced with N-ergy tech in the soles. Coated in whites and darker hues – with luxurious shiny elements also – this is a silhouette that works for every rotation.
