PUMA Palermo Godfather Pack, New Balance 550 and an interview with Steven Smith – size? Previews 2022- Episode 01
As we delve into 2022, we’ve got some super-exciting trainers to come that we just know you’ll love. While you must be patient to get your hands on these exclusive collaborations, we’re offering a sneak peek and some words on each trainer from Luke and Binns. Included this month is our PUMA Palermo ‘Godfather’ trilogy, and the sturdy New Balance 550 Cordura. What’s more, in line with our New Balance 550 silhouette, we managed to conduct an exclusive interview with the legendary Steven Smith – the godfather of Dad Shoes!
Moving on, our exclusive PUMA Palermo ‘Godfather’ pack – a range of classy silhouettes that nod to the shoe’s Sicilian roots and – of course – the legendary Francis Ford Coppola movie. These trainers are an offer you can’t refuse; we kept the references minimal, making sure the OG Palermo remains authentic and super versatile. Three iconic moments from the movies are referenced, perfectly in line with the first film’s 50th anniversary this year. Oh, there are only 500 pairs available for each, adding to the exclusiveness of these three blockbusters.
Lastly, our latest New Balance 550 pack. After dropping these on our Instagram last month, we realised the true hype these will cause. Taken away from their b-ball roots, we have experimented with the versatility of this shoe. We’ve ditched the clean basketball colour blocks and collegiate tones and have brought three new designs which take the trainer to a whole new space, colour and material-wise. We can’t wait to release these.
In line with this release, we were privileged to have a chat with Steven Smith – AKA the Godfather of Dad Shoes. Renowned for his punk rock ethos when designing trainers, Smith is pretty much royalty in the sneaker history books. In the ‘80s, his career began at New Balance, and he was responsible for designing the 574, 997 and 1500, three silhouettes that became iconic over the years. His influence doesn’t stop there either, he’s worked with adidas, Reebok, FILA and Nike. The crowning detail to Smith’s CV is that he currently works with Kanye West in recent years, offering a hand in designing the latest YEEZYs. This man is nothing short of a legend – check out the interview here.
