size? podcast x Rinse: featuring Flyo, Ghosty and MK The Plug
For our next size? podcast, we are inviting some of the country’s most established UK drill producers to get an insight into the fascinating contemporary music scene.
UK drill derives from a genre that first started in Chicago, but it takes more influence sonically from UK grime and garage, offering a more brooding, raw sound.
As this variety of drill goes global, we are privileged to host some of the hottest names in the genre with this week’s Inspired by: Producers podcast. Check out the podcast below and you can also have a read about each producer…
Flyo
Hailing from North London, Flyo is a renowned UK rap and drill producer who has had a late-night rap show residency at Rinse for several years. What’s more, his strong reputation derives from his work with some of the top names on the scene; Flyo has linked up with Suspect, Nafe Smallz, Ms. Banks, and more. So as well as spinning some of the freshest tracks on his radio show, he also pioneers some of the best sounds around.
Ghosty
Joining the roster is another one of UK drill’s pioneering producers – Ghosty. This producer ventured into the bubbling drill scene at its early stages, using his production skills – that he had been working on since he was 14 – to make a mark. Today, Ghosty has some collabs under his belt, working with artists such as Dave, Headie One and Digga D. With the drill scene making moves around the globe now, it is exciting to see what Ghosty will do next.
MK The Plug
Another incredible talent is joining this week’s size? Podcast; MK The Plug hails from London and has worked with some of the best talents in the drill scene. His rich and brooding beats have stood out on the scene being used by the likes of Pa Salieu, Meekz, M1llionz and Smoke Boys. MK The Plug is by far one of the most in-demand young producers in the drill scene at the moment.
