James Organ is stepping up for our next size? sessions Mix
We’ve been keeping you all entertained with our exclusive mixes for a whopping 24 weeks now, and for this instalment, we’re set to be joined by Liverpool-based rising DJ James Organ.
A master of house and techno, 2019 was a big breakthrough year for James with spots at Parklife, Reading & Leeds, Creamfields, The Warehouse Project and plenty of others on the bill. Keep on reading and get to know our 24th guest a little bit more…
Tell us about yourself; where you’re from, what you do and what’s your shoe size?
“My name is James Organ and I’m a DJ & Producer from Liverpool. Shoe size 7.”
How did you get started in the feeling industry?
“I began by putting up posters for club events in the City, whilst pushing my demos/meeting new people & contacts on the side. This allowed me the network to push my music out once I felt it was at a good enough level.”
How would you describe your music style?
“303 laden, bass-driven house music.”
What has been your record of the year so far and what are you looking forward to hearing for the rest of the year?
“Difficult to pick a definite favourite as there is so much great music around right now, but I would say anything by the likes of Harry Romero/Joeski etc. Really love that tribal/New York sound, and their productions always go down so well in the club.”
Have you been making much music recently and can we expect some releases soon?
“Yes for sure – with all of the spare time over lockdown, I have been making as much music as possible. My final 2 releases this year are EPs with Steve Lawlers iVAV Recordings and Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels.”
Has there been a particular event/party that has stood out for your career?
“Although I may be biased, I have to say the Circus events in my City have been the standout easily. Consistently credible underground line-ups, very well ran, and Liverpool is such a great city to play in.”
And looking further ahead, who should we be looking out for in 2021?
“People who I have been seeing a lot of / are on the rise recently are:
Warung, Chris Simon, Tibasko, Because Of Art, Jody Barr and many more.”
On Friday you’re broadcasting an exclusive size? sessions Mix for us. What can we expect to hear?
“Tribal/groovy/house music, including some new cuts from myself.”
Outside of the music industry, where do you look for inspiration?
“Feelings; films; weather etc.”
What are your top 3 records of all time?
“One of the hardest questions of all time, off the top of my head:
Larry Heard/Mr Fingers – Can You Feel It
The Beatles – Come Together
Radiohead – Everything In Its Right place
(there are so many more!)”
What are your top 3 trainers of all time?
“Comme Des Garçons x Converse Chuck Taylor 70 Hi
Black Suede Air Force 1
Supra Vaider High Top.”
