size? collections – Chris Danforth – Writer, Editor & Photographer
For this edition of size? collections, we’re speaking with Chris Danforth –aka @c_danforth – to see what the Editor, Writer and Photographer keeps stashed away.
Signed Sneakers
Nike Air Max 1 – signed by Tinker Hatfield
“I really like the idea of collecting OG colourways signed by designers. I interviewed Tinker in London during a Nike event a few years ago, so I made sure to bring a pair of OG Air Max 1s.”
Futura x Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star Low – signed by Futura
“I shipped the Instapumps to Steven Smith in Portland, who was nice enough to ink them and send them back. The Futura Converse I had signed during an event in Amsterdam. I just need something from adidas now…”
Reebok Instapump Fury – signed by Steven Smith
‘The Legend Of Harajuku, Goro’s Vol 1’
“I’m a real sucker for coffee table books from Rizzoli and Taschen, but I also dig other random print ephemera like pamphlets and zines. This Goro’s magazine is the first volume of three. It’s an amazing reference if you’re into Goro’s, and it explains how certain pieces are meant to be worn or styled.”
adidas – ‘The Story As Told By Those Who Have Lived and Are Living It’
“This adidas book is insane, it’s called ‘The Story As Told By Those Who Have Lived and Are Living It,’ it’s 643 pages and it’s so heavy.
“It mostly covers the brand’s sporting accomplishments over the decades, including tons of amazing photos. I got my copy from the adidas showroom in Berlin, but I’ve heard that these are only given to certain adidas employees.”
‘Playboy’ August 1990 – “The Girls of Canada”
“Lastly, this issue of Playboy is a bit of fun, it’s dedicated to “The Girls of Canada” – where I’m from – and it’s from 1990 – the year I was born.”
The North Face Purple Label
“I love The North Face, I think I have like 5 different colours of the Mountain Jacket. I also love accessories from the Japanese-exclusive Purple Label collection. Whether I’m grabbing groceries or heading somewhere on my bike, I will definitely have some kind of Purple Label bag on me.”
BAPE accessories
“Here are a few BAPE accessories that I think most people will not have. These BAPE x Daiwa fishing lures are great, I love how they say ‘A FISHING APE.’ They’re from 2010 or so. This (kind of strange) BAPE x Desperados beer is from the opening of BAPE Paris. Lastly, this vacuum-sealed T-shirt is a collaboration with Highsnobiety from 2015.”
