Take a look at our Nike Air Zoom Spiridon Cage 2 ‘Carnaby’ collection
Over the past 20 years, we’ve worked with Nike on a whole spectrum of exclusive silhouettes, and now it’s time for us to introduce you to our latest effort together, a Carnaby Street-inspired reimagining of the Air Zoom Spiridon Cage 2.
Now, before we delve into our Nike Air Zoom Spiridon Cage 2 collaboration, let us quickly bring you up to speed on the history of the silhouette.
If you’re unfamiliar with the model, the retro-futuristic runner first landed in 2003 and coined its name from its caged Zoom Air Unit in the heel. The runner has ridden a wave of resurgence in 2020 thanks to exclusive collaborations with streetwear experts Stussy, and now it’s time for us to put a unique spin on the early ’00s pair.
Carnaby has a colourful past. With origins rooted in thespian and bohemian fashions – and a celebrated role within a world of subcultures and scenes – for decades, the area has been a hub aspiring creatives.
Ever since the ’60s, it’s been vibrant, exciting and rebellious, catering to the likes of The Beatles, Hendrix, The Stones and a whole host of other international stars.
From the prints adorning its fashions to vibrant pop-art murals and the vivid personalities who visited its stores, Carnaby has always been bright and expressive – much like our exclusive Nike Air Zoom Spiridon Cage 2.
Unlike any Spiridon Cage 2 previous, we’ve reworked the model in an eclectic mix of mesh, suede and leather with a striking palette that nods to Carnaby’s colourful buildings and displays.
Around the back, we’ve also decorated the pair with ‘Welcomes the World’ embroidery as an ode to the ‘Carnaby Street Welcomes The World’ sign that was installed way back in 1973.
That’s not all though, sitting alongside the Air Zoom Spiridon Cage 2, we’ve also produced a matching ‘Welcomes The World’ short-sleeve tee and hoodie collection as a nice complementary touch.
