After dipping into the archive back in 2019, adidas Originals continues the revival of their sought-after European City Series for 2020, and the next stop on their journey takes us to Frankfurt.

If you know adidas then you should know all about their European City Series, but just in case you’re unfamiliar, let us fill in the gaps:

The collection kicked off in the 1970s/early 1980s and chronicled 24 cities across Europe, with each commemorative shoe characterised of by a unique colourway. Many of the silhouettes have gone on to receive cult status among collectors, so when news of another City Series revival starts to spread it’s always music to a collector’s ears.

Now, onto the Frankfurt; just like its German counterpart, the Hamburg, the low-cut suede silhouette first touched down in the ‘80s and quickly became a fan favourite throughout the terrace scene.

Remaining true to the OG, this reissue arrives with its signature navy suede uppers and complementary silver 3-Stripes and a ‘Frankfurt’ sidewall lettering. The trainer takes a refreshing step away from previous city series; it boasts three Velcro straps instead of a traditional lace system, making fastening the pair a breeze. All of which rests comfortably upon a heritage-inspired, semi-translucent, gum rubber sole unit.
